I read this trilogy last Christmas and couldn't put them down. I've been recommending them to students, along with Dashner's Maze Runner trilogy (not quite as good but definitely as interesting!)

This is a YA book that adults can definitely read and enjoy (I did!!) At the same time I love that it draws on ancient story and myth as you point out in your review, and it touches on many different themes. This series is more than just a very gripping read - it contains much to give all readers food for thought.

Having had both a Blogger and a WordPress blog, I can definitely say that the WP blog attracts more than its fair share of wackos.... sigh. This is the first spam that has come through my Contact form, however. You know you need something more constructive to do with your life when you find yourself doing custom spamming.

This makes me laugh. Oh, the banes of the internet! Also, I can't stand those emails from people who claim to be "readers" who offer to provide a product for a giveaway in exchange for a positive review OR that want to "sponsor" the blog as long as you include ads for gambling sites, etc.... My blog and my integrity, not for sale. At least, not right now. ;-)

[...] Somehow it’s kind of comforting to know that Murakami didn’t think he could write a novel until he was 30, either. More reading: another of his comments on stories, embedded in Town of Cats, or read another comment about music and writing from Paul Auster… [...]

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I have enjoyed checking out your space as well, lots of interesting things for me to ponder.
In response to your question, I do hail from Canada, currently residing in Calgary, Alberta as I have for 10 years; but grew up in small town Saskatchewan. I see, you are from the flat too!
All the best,
t.
